Ronald N. Eddy, 87, of Topeka, passed away Monday, January 26, 2015.
He was the son of Lawrence J. and Arline (Milam) Eddy. Ronald graduated from Topeka High School in 1945 and then served in the U.S. Navy Seabees during WW II. In 1947 he attended the College of Emporia. Following that he served a four year Santa Fe Railroad upholstery apprenticeship and worked in the Supt of Shops Office for 20 years. He was the 4th generation of his family to work and retire from Santa Fe. He also served as Cubmaster and later served as assistant scout leader of Troop 7 at First Christian Church.

In 1970 he finished his college degree from Washburn University and opened a picture frame and stoneware business, Studio Arts Frame Shop. Later he sold the business and returned to his first love of teaching art.

Ron married Celia Foster in 1949. They celebrated their 65th anniversary in 2014. In 1979 they moved to Myrtle Beach, S.C. to be near their daughter. He continued as an art teacher and remodeling houses. In 1998 they returned to Topeka and renewed membership in 1st Christian Church. He was also a member of the Topeka Orient Lodge No. 51 of A.F. & A.M. and was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason.

Ron loved to tell funny stories about people he met and loved fishing in Minnesota with the family. He also became the family barber, a talent he learned in the Seabees!

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, his twin brother, Donald, an older brother, Lawrence Dale and his daughter, Linda Lea Howe. He is survived by his wife, Celia; two sons, Steven (Nancy) Eddy, Topeka and Martin (Sherry) Eddy, Plattsburg, MO; three granddaughters; five grandsons; five step-grandsons; a step-granddaughter; 16 great-grandchildren; a brother, Jack (Carol) Eddy; two nephews, David and John Eddy; and a niece, Melissa Mounts.

Ronald was cremated. A celebration of life service will be 1 p.m., Saturday, January 31, 2015 at the First Christian Church, 1880 SW Gage, Topeka, KS 66604. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church. Private inurnment will be at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Dove Cremation & Funeral Service in Topeka is assisting the family.
