James Leo Hug
1954 - 2014

James Leo Hug, 60, of Topeka, passed away at the Midland Hospice House October 13, 2014 after a long illness. Jim was born July 29th 1954 in Topeka, the son of Roland G. and Fern C. (Hildebrandt) Hug.

He attended Highland Park and Topeka High School, graduating from Topeka High. He was married to Debbie Houk for several years then divorced. He then remarried his friend of several years, Jeanette Arancibia in October of 2010. She survives.

Jim is also survived by his two children, Kristina Martin (Josh) and Brian Hug (Amanda); 8 grandchildren: Shamus Foley, Sean Foley, Michael Hug, Alexandra Martin, Brandon Hug, Britney Martin, Seth Hug, and Brianna Hug; and his siblings: Marilyn Anderson (Bruce), Gary Hug (Cindy), Diane Hug, Kevin Hug (Laurie), Kathy Hug and Rhonda Alfery (Todd).

Jim had a great career as a painter but also displayed great handyman skills and could fix most anything with bailing wire and duct tape…just sayin’. He had a great sense of humor and a huge heart. He would not hesitate to help anyone in need. His hobby was collecting guns (squirt guns of course). He loved motorcycles, sky diving (which he did only once) or anything adventurous.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, October 16, 2014 at Dove Cremation & Funeral Service Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Topeka Rescue Mission, P.O. Box 8350, Topeka, KS 66608 or The Salvation Army Citadel, 1320 SE 6th Ave. Ste A, Topeka, KS 66607-1934
