He was the 4th youngest of 16 children and was born on August 10, 1922 in Topeka, KS. He retired from Fleming Distribution Company after 33 years. Earl was a proud WWII veteran who served with the 268th Field Artillery attached to the Third Army in Europe and was honorably discharged in 1946. He was the boxing Champion of the 155 lb. novice division of the field artillery battalion in 1943. A memorial brick honoring his service was set at the Gage Park War Memorial Park.
Earl loved working on old cars and playing his guitar with friends and family. He was a hardworking man with a sense of humor that was hilarious, infectious and warm. He loved his family dearly.
He is survived by his wife, Millie Lang (Berryton, KS), daughters Jodi Bryant (Burlingame, KS), Linda Drake (Topeka, KS), Teena Kurtz (Berryton, KS), Linda Marie Shuford (deceased), son Earl (Bud) Lang (Spokane, WA), and a stepson, Jim Bickell (deceased), 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Flowers and cards can be sent to 3727 NE Seward Ave., Topeka, KS 66616. A celebration of his life will be held from 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 25, 2017 at The Reynolds Lodge at Lake Shawnee, 3315 Tinman Circle, Topeka, KS (east side of the lake).
