Marsha L. Chelson, 77, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2017. She was born January 24, 1939, in Kansas City, Kansas, the daughter of Robert and Florence (Marsh) Legg. She graduated from Topeka High School in 1957, and attended Kansas State University.

Marsha was employed by Employees Benefit Association and Kansas Rehabilitation Hospital and Select Specialty Hospital.

Marsha was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, of Topeka where she was Choir Director for 28 years. She was also a member of Chi Omega Sorority and the Community Concert Association and was Past President of the Topeka Panhellenic Association and Topeka High Booster Club.

Marsha married Gerald L. Chelson on May 31, 1959 in Topeka. He survives. She is also survived by her daughters, Marchelle Atkins (Mike), Cathryn Tunnell (Jay), Susan Carpenter (Al), and Sarah Chelson (Wayne Garvey); grandchildren, Chelsea Carpenter, Bradley Carpenter, Dustin Carpenter, Andrew Carpenter, Zachary Atkins, Mandy Atkins, Adam Atkins, James Tunnell, Tyler Tunnell, Samantha Ginter, and Alexander Ginter; great-grandchildren, Bryah Wakes, Alexander D. Ginter, Jr., Tylan R. Ginter, Arianna Carpenter, Aidan Carpenter, Rhett Rohrke, and one more due in March 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A Funeral Ceremony will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, January 13th at Trinity Lutheran Church, 725 SW Buchanan in Topeka. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:30 – 6:30 pm Thursday at the church.
