Betty L. Bailey, 91, of Topeka, went home to be with the Lord and her family on November 12th, 2016. She was born March 15, 1925 to Charles Perkins and Maude (Buchanan) Perkins in Downs, KS. She resided in Topeka, KS where she married the love of her life, Chester L. Bailey on November 8, 1943. Betty retired after 30 years from Sears, where she worked as a Switchboard operator. She was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Topeka.

She is survived by her daughter, Marty (James) Brewer; grandchildren, Stacey (Doug) Kramer, Matt Brewer, Michelle (John) Leach, Sara (Toby) Viles, Chris Schiffelbein (Jack Travis) and Emily Schiffelbein (Cecil North); brother, Claude Perkins; 8 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Chester L. Bailey; daughter, Vicki Schiffelbein; grandson, Brian Schiffelbein; 3 brothers; 2 sisters; and best friends, Margaret Chellis and Maxine Lavern.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, November 22nd at First Southern Baptist Church, 1912 SW Gage Blvd. Graveside inurnment will follow at Mt. Hope cemetery. Betty and her family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at McCrite Plaza, who showed her kindness and compassion in their care for her. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Topeka Rescue Mission.
