In Memory Of
David Ortiz Llamas
1959 - 2016
David was raised in Topeka and attended Topeka High School. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany for six years. David was an electrician by trade.
David is survived by his significant other of 12 ½ years, Gina Ortiz, daughters, Kristl Taylor (“J”) and Jessi Ward (Dusty); 3 sisters, Lola Davenport (Nick), Linda Coffman (Kevin), Lisa Flores (Joe); 2 brothers, Daniel and Douglas Llamas; 3 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and great-nieces, Chastity and Larissa who were the center of his world. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jose` David and sister, Lupe Vega.
David enjoyed watching KU Basketball, the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs, and building models of classic cars and airplanes. He was a caring and giving man who was a jack of all trades. He never turned down an opportunity to help others with their electrical problems, fixing cars or anything that needed to be done.
Per his wishes, David was cremated. A Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 19th at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Topeka. The family will greet visitors from 9:30-10:30 and a Rosary will be recited at 10:30 prior to the mass.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the David Llamas Memorial Fund in care of any Envista Credit Union location.
