Marilyn K. Simon, 69, Indian Ridge, Lake Perry, passed into the loving arms of Jesus, September 11, 2016 at her home under the care of Jefferson County Hospice. She was born January 6, 1947 at Wichita, Kansas to Dean and Eva Hurst. Marilyn graduated from Wichita West High School in 1965 and Friends University in 1969. She moved toTopeka in 1969 with her family.

She met and married her husband Alan in 1975. They enjoyed spending time with their families, and were active in the Hillside Community Church. They spent many years hiking in the Rocky Mountain National Park. She enjoyed buying T-Shirts in Estes Park, and eating at Sweet Basilico Italian Café and Pepe and Chelea’s Mexican Restaurant.

Marilyn loved sports. She was an avid Royals and Chiefs fan. She was a fast pitch softball pitcher during her high school and college years on a church team. She worked for the State of Kansas Labor Department for 42 years.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her mother Eva, her sister, Janet, and two brothers, Paul Dean and Jim. She is survived by her loving husband Alan of the home; her father, Dean; sister, Beth (Mike) Cullison; niece, Michelle (Joe) Price; Nephews, Bob (Tammy) Cullison and Matt Cullison; and several cousins.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 26, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Dove Cremation & Funeral Service, 4020 SW 6th Ave. Topeka. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Jefferson County Hospice, 300 Jefferson St. Oskaloosa, KS 66066.
