Katheryn R. Northrop, 77, of Topeka, passed away on May 21, 2016. Kathy was born on February 17, 1939 to Fred and Crystal Coker in Valley Falls, Kansas.

Kathy attended Meriden High School. She was one of the first women to attend Yoder Police Academy in Hutchinson, where she went to work at KU Medical Center as a police officer. She later went to work and retired from Blue Cross Blue Shield as the Cafeteria Supervisor. Kathy was not one to stay home, so she went to work at Lynn’s Place in Oakland and then the Dillard’s of North Topeka, Majr Thrift.

She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother, Buddy; brother, Harry “Bud” Coker; sister, Nadean Desch and a daughter-in-law, Linda Hollenbeck.

She is survived by her daughters, Crystal (Rusty) Addington; Kelly (Russell Wolf) Hollenbeck, Shelly Brandenburgh; sons, Terry Hollenbeck and Ron (Deanna) Hollenbeck. Kathy has 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Garfield Shelter House. Burial will follow at Meriden Cemetery.
