Lowell David Sechrist, 80, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2015. He was born February 22, 1935, in Borger, Texas, the son of Emmett and Eunice (Truley) Sechrist.

Lowell married Norma Ludden on April 9, 1954 at Amarillo, Texas. Soon after they married, Lowell joined the military and earned the rank of Sergeant in the U.S. Army, actively serving his country from 1954-1956. After he was discharged from the Army, Lowell served in the Army Reserves and the Army National Guard of Texas.

Lowell went on to make his career as a Rate Clerk with the Santa Fe Railroad. He retired in 1997 from Burlington Northern Santa Fe after 37 years. Following his retirement from the railroad, he worked as a security guard at the Prairie Band Casino for 14 years.

In his free time, Lowell liked to go golfing and bowling. He was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Church in Topeka.

Lowell is survived by his children, Marsha Bennett of Hendersonville, Tennessee, Sharon Inman (Tim) of Cherokee, Oklahoma, Teena Emerson (David) of Topeka, Kansas and David Sechrist of Topeka, Kansas; brother, Garland Martin, Wichita Falls, Texas; grandchildren, Brandon Emerson (Deanna), Chad Bennett (Karla), Trendi Emerson, Chuck Bennett, Mendee Dice (Austin), Lindsie Smitherman (Brian) and Jarrod Inman (Sammi); great-grandchildren, Lindsey Bennett, Grady Emerson, Trey Emerson, Cooper House, Maycee House, Maddox Emerson, Dyson Inman, Logan Smitherman, McKenzie Smitherman, Taylor Bennett, Zane Bennett, Isaiah Bennett and Molly Bennett. He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma; his parents; 4 brothers and a son-in-law, Wayne Bennett.

Lowell was cremated at his request. No services will be held at this time.
