Charles Leonard Ramsey, 83, of Topeka, passed on Saturday, September 26, 2015, at St. Francis Health Center. He was born January 25, 1932, in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Archie D. and Louise Oliver Ramsey.

Charles graduated from North Eastern High School in Detroit and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, where he became a Tech Sergeant, and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. He retired after 21 years of service. Charles was employed by Stormont-Vail Hospital for 38 years, retiring as the Chief of Nuclear Medicine. He then continued his work at the Colmery-O’Neil VA Medical Center for an additional ten years.

On April 9, 1955, in Retford, England, Charles married Elizabeth Main. She survives. Other survivors include three sons, Shaun Ramsey (Tracy) of Kansas City, Kansas, Kevin Ramsey of Topeka, and Eddie Ramsey (Rachel) of Topeka; and two daughters, Lisa Buchanan (Daniel) of Topeka, and Spring Perez (Oscar) of Kansas City, Kansas. Other family members left to cherish his memories include a brother, George Ramsey of Detroit, Michigan; two former daughters-in-law, Anita DiDonna of Overland Park, Kansas, and April Ramsey of Topeka; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 24, 2015, at St. Augustine’s Anglican Church, 2140 SW Hodges Road, Topeka, Kansas 66614. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church.
