Susan Rae Shannon, 63, of Topeka passed away May 17, 2015. She was born on April 15, 1952 to Raymond and Wanda (Dockweiler) Shannon at Leavenworth, Kansas.

Susan loved riding horses, the countryside, loved music, sports cars, pick up trucks and socializing with her friends. She worked hard to raise her children as a single mother much of her life and kept a tidy home. She worked at KNI in the 1990's with the disabled and ejoyed this job.

Susan is survived by three daughters: Christin Dillon (Matt), Kimberly Downard (Ron) and Jancee Schuerger (Joseph); one son Shawn Compton (Rebecca); Grandchildren: Brennon Steele, Koty Steele, Tanner Brown, Chance Belcher, Kalah Talley, Christopher Whitehead, Logan McDougall, Trevor Hampton, Karastyn Schuerger, Gwen Compton and Nolan Compton; parents Raymond and Wanda Shannon; siblings: Joyce Warren (Danny), Judy Baker (Tim), Peggy Voyles and Pat Shannon; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her brother Doug Shannon and sister-in-law Donna Shannon.

A private memorial service will be held. Inurnment will be at Foster Cemetery along side her brother Doug.

Susan was loved by many and was a joy to be with when she was happy. She was a fighter and fought her illness until the end. Her family is grateful for the nurses, doctors and others with PACE and Midland Hospice that helped so much. A special thank you is offered to her sister Joyce and brother-in-law Danny Warren for accepting her into their home and helping her to be comfortable. They really went over and beyond to make her last days on earth memorable for her and her family. For that, her children are truly grateful.
