Douglas R. McAdams, 68, of Topeka, passed away February 8, 2018. He was born January 4, 1950 at Great Bend, Kansas to Robert R. and Marjorie J. (Russell) McAdams. He grew up in Salina, Kansas and graduated from Salina Central High School. He entered the US Navy in 1968 and was honorably discharged in 1972. He graduated from K-State in Manhattan with a degree in history. He was an 18 year employee of KPL.

He leaves behind his daughter, Shelby Kelly (Michael) and grandson, Alex, of Salina; his brothers: Rodney McAdams (Linda) of Tybee Island, GA, Michael McAdams of Lake Worth, Florida, Greg McAdams (Trish) of Olathe, KS, Janet Mitchell (Josh Travis) long-time friend, companion and former wife; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Doug was a loving father, grandfather, husband and friend. He was loved by many people for his wit, smile, generosity and sense of humor. He was a friend of Bill W. and loved studying his twelve spiritual principles.

Doug gave his life to Christ and wanted to be assured that all of his loved ones would be joining him in heaven. He especially appreciated twelve promises that have been voiced in the program of Alcoholics Anonymous.

His memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at the Colmery O'Neil Veterans Administration Chapel , 2200 SW Gage Blvd. Topeka, KS.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions made to the Veterans Administration Hospital.
