Robert E. "Bob" Dillon
1929 - 2018

Robert E. Dillon, 88, of Wamego, Ks, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday, January 12, 2018. He was born on March 26, 1929 in Thomas, West Virginia to Samuel and Eva (Yeager) Dillon.

Bob grew up in Thomas and graduated from Thomas High School. He served his country in the United States Air Force. He was a B-29 crew chief during the Korean War and was stationed in Texas, Kansas, Louisiana and spent time in Okinawa. While in Kansas, he met his wife, Marjorie (Kensett), at church and the two were married March 2, 1952.

After the Air Force, Bob worked for his father-in-law at the Kensett Company and went on to own and operate Time Equipment Company in Topeka, KS. He was a lifetime member of the Presbyterian Church serving as an elder and session clerk for many years. He also was a sponsor of the youth group and was scoutmaster for the Boy Scout troop.

While living in Ozawkie, Bob helped coach baseball and basketball and later ran the clock for football and basketball games at Jefferson West for many years. He was a charter member of the Lake Perry Optimist Club. Bob loved being outdoors and enjoyed camping, fishing and hiking in the woods.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marjorie, of Wamego, three children, Kurt (Pam) of St. George, KS, Kerry of Ozawkie, KS and Kelly (Victoria) of Kansas City, MO, two granddaughters, Shawna O’Halloran (Mark) and Sandy Klein (Andrew) both of Wamego, KS, five great-grandchildren, a sister, Dorothy Losh of Thomas, WV and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bob was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Edward Dillon, and a sister, Bonnie Shaffer.

Upon retirement, Bob and Marjorie retired to the family home in Thomas, West Virginia, remaining there for 20 years. Family was very important to Bob and he loved spending time with everyone. You could find him hiking in the woods, sitting by the campfire, picking berries and each year hosted the annual Yeager family reunion.

They moved to Wamego in 2013 to be near family.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Dove Cremation & Funeral Service, 4020 SW 6th Ave, Topeka, KS 66606.
