1928 - 2018

Reynalda A. “Reina” Ochoa, 89, of Topeka joined her loving husband in the arms of our Lord on January 7, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born March 15, 1928 in Topeka, Kansas. She married Gabriel R. Ochoa on June 7, 1947.

Rae is survived by her daughters: Monica Ochoa-Lang (P. Tom) of Topeka, Shannon Ochoa of Overland Park, Kansas, and Sylvia Wingert of Lawrence, Kansas; two grandchildren: Chrissy Chapman and Danielle Lang-Shaw, both of Topeka; three great-grandchildren: Cameron and Connor Chapman and Jacob Shaw.

She was preceded in death by her husband on October 12, 2015; her parents, Cipriana (Melendrez) and Juan Almaguer; and seven siblings: Helena Almaguer, Frank Almaguer, Salome Almaguer, Miguel Almaguer, Rosario Almaguer, Consuela Adame, and Cresencia Obregon.

She earned her GED through the Topeka public school system. Rae was employed by Seymour Foods for 36 years. She was featured in a national magazine using an egg separator machine that turned egg into powder form to feed servicemen. She took classes in cake decorating and created many intricate cakes and desserts for her family and friends throughout the years. She was an avid cook creating her own recipes. Rae sewed clothing and other items, knitted and crocheted. Some of her large projects required over a year to complete. She loved home decorating.

Rae had a passion for animals. She especially loved Pomeranians and had several throughout the past 50 years.
