In Memory Of
Beverly K. Youngs
1935 - 2017

Beverly Kay Youngs, 81, a longtime resident of Topeka, Kansas, passed away July 30, 2017. She was born December 13, 1935 to James Arden and Lelah Izora (Mitchell) McQuin in Topeka where she grew up and graduated from Topeka High School in 1953. She was married to Sayre Meredith Youngs from 1955 until 1969. He survives. During this marriage she lived in California, Texas and New Hampshire before returning to Topeka.

Beverly began her career as an office manager for Dr. James Askew, DDS in 1970 until 1975. She worked for Drs. Counselman & Counselman as an office manager from 1975 to 1977, as an office assistant from 1977 to 1978 for Drs. Carriger & Carriger, and served as an office assistant to Jim Lord, Bankers Life Nebraska, from 1978 to 1981. She then began working for the state of Kansas in 1981 with the Civil Rights Commission as an Intake Supervisor until her retirement in 1998.

Beverly has been an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous since 1975. She was an avid reader of fiction and non-fiction novels, enjoyed needlepoint and collecting teddy bears (because her favorite brother was named Ted).

She is survived by her children: Sayre “Brad” Youngs of Springfield, MO, Stuart (Valerie) Youngs of Kansas City, MO, Tamara (Scott) Crider and Meredith (Craig) Preisner, both of Topeka; her grandchildren: Meredith (Mike) Harold of Overland Park, KS, Victoria Alejos of Topeka, MacKenzie “Mac” Crider of Lawrence, KS, Raeley Youngs of Springfield, MO and Bradley Crider of Topeka; her great-grandchildren: Wilt and Ellis Harold of Overland Park, KS; and her former husband, Danny Helton of Topeka.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Lelah in 1970; father, James in 1979; brothers: Bill McQuin (date unknown), James McQuin in 2016 and Theodore “Ted” McQuin in 1994; nephew, Teddy McQuin in 2003; and former husband, Kenneth Wilson in 1992.

A Memorial service and celebration of her life will be held from 11:00AM to 1:00PM, Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Mt. Hope Cemetery and Funeral Chapel, 4700 SW 17th Street, Topeka, KS.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Valley Hope, 1816 N. 2nd Street, Atchison, KS 66002 or The 2100 Club, 2100 SW Central Park Ave., Topeka, KS 66611.
