Raul “Paul” Holguin, 91, of Topeka, passed away at his home on May 14, 2017. Paul was born January 17, 1926 at Garden City, Kansas to Valente and Francisca (Gonzales) Holguin. He was raised in Las Cruces, New Mexico, one of eight children.

He served in the US Army with the 808th Engineer Aviation Battalion from 1944-1946 and participated in the Battle of Okinawa in 1945. Paul married Gracie Jimenez on June 25, 1955 at San Francisco, California. Gracie passed away in 1997. He married Judy Soulis on November 27, 1999 at Prescott Valley, Arizona.

When he resided in San Francisco, CA, he worked as a building superintendent. Paul was raised as a Roman Catholic and was baptized in the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in 2016.

Paul's family was everything to him. He enjoyed winning games of pool against his grandchildren, spending time with family, and tinkering in his garage. He charmed everyone he met, with his quick wit and outgoing personality. He also loved spoiling his dog, Bella.

Paul leaves his loving wife Judy; his sisters Josephina Holguin and Maryanna Suares; his brother Frank Holguin; his children: Norma Esther Holguin, Andria Graham and her husband Tim, Kristina Johnson and her husband Chris, Alberto Holguin; daughters-in-law Rosa Holguin and Ana Holguin; grandchildren Carina DeVries and her husband Philip, Vincent Castrillo and his wife Dina, Kate Graham, Jay and Rodney Holguin, and Amelia, Grace and Richard Holguin; his great-grandchildren Jackson and Isabella DeVries; and two neices he raised as his own, Elena Perez and Martha Rueckert, along with their spouses and families.

Paul was also preceded in death by two children, Rueben and Richard Holguin.

A memorial service will be held May 20, 2017 at 3:00PM at Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 2435 Wanamaker Rd., Topeka. Interment of his cremated remains will be at San Francisco, California.
