Ruford DePriest, 71, of Topeka, passed away Monday, April 24, 2017.
He was born July 14, 1945, in Arizona, the son of James and Juanita DePriest. He attended Washburn University and the University of Kansas. Ruford spent 25 years in New York City as an actor, writer, and bar owner.
Survivors include children, Sherry DePriest, Donald (Debbie) DePriest, Mark (Melissa) DePriest, and Renee Masters; life mate, Wanda Pittman; and grandchildren, Sierra, Markus, Brett, and Ashley.
Ruford was cremated. A memorial ceremony will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 28, 2017, at Dove Cremation & Funeral Service, 4020 SW 6th Avenue, Topeka, Kansas 66606. Interment of the cremated remains will be at Burlingame Cemetery at a later date.
